Our One Gloucestershire Integrated Care System brings together NHS, social care, public health and other public, voluntary and community sector organisations

We know that by working together we can build a healthier Gloucestershire; supporting people to live well and providing high-quality joined-up care when needed.

Our vision

Making Gloucestershire the healthiest place to live and work – championing equity in life chances and the best health and care outcomes for all.

We will do this by:

1
Building on the strengths of individuals, carers and local communities to improve resilience
2
Engaging people and communities so they are active participants in their health and wellbeing by listening, collaborating and strengthening our community engagement
3
Increasing our focus on prevention, the wider determinants of health, promoting independence and person-centred care
4
Providing high quality joined up care as close to people’s homes and their communities as possible
5
Valuing and supporting our workforce so they can develop, work flexibly and thrive at work
6
Working together, recognising the contribution of all our One Gloucestershire partners, including a thriving voluntary and community sector
7
Reducing disparities in outcomes, experience and access
8
Working together to use our resources wisely, obtaining the greatest value for our population

Our strategic priorities

  • Making Gloucestershire a better place for the future – improving the health, wellbeing and care of our citizens – focus on early prevention and the wider impacts on health
  • Transforming what we do – locality integrated working that supports the needs of the local population, achieving equity – reducing unfair and avoidable differences in health, developing our workforce, improving quality and outcomes across the whole person journey and making the most of digital technology to support care
  • Improving health and care services today – improving access to care, reducing waiting times, supporting improvements in urgent and emergency care and improving mental health support.

You can read more about our strategic priorities in our 5 year ICS Strategy. A summary of the 3 strategic pillars can be found on page 7.

Our NHS Gloucestershire Integrated Care Board (NHS Gloucestershire) is responsible for planning and buying services to meet the health needs of local people. It also brings partners together to ensure the county’s NHS provides the best possible care.

It works alongside our One Gloucestershire Health and Wellbeing Partnership – ensuring a joined-up approach across the NHS, public health, social care and the wider public, voluntary and community sector.

What is
NHS Gloucestershire Integrated Care Board?

Our NHS Gloucestershire Integrated Care Board (NHS Gloucestershire) is responsible for planning and buying services to meet the health needs of local people. It also brings partners together to ensure the county’s NHS provides the best possible care.

Alongside our communities, we want to improve health, improve access to high quality care and support when needed and make Gloucestershire a better place for the future.

We will do this by:

  • supporting improvements in urgent and emergency care
  • reducing waiting times for appointments, treatment and operations as we recover from the pandemic
  • improving access to care outside of hospital, as close to home as possible
  • supporting people with mental health needs, learning disabilities and autism
  • developing our workforce and making the most of new technology
  • tackling health inequalities.

Health and care services will still be available in people’s homes, GP surgeries, communities and in hospitals, but partners will work ever more closely together to plan and provide advice, support and care.

We will work hand in glove with our One Gloucestershire Health and Wellbeing Partnership – ensuring a joined-up approach across health, social care, public health and the wider public, voluntary and community sector.

What is
One Gloucestershire Health and Wellbeing Partnership?

Our One Gloucestershire Health and Wellbeing Partnership brings together NHS, social care, public health and other public, voluntary and community sector partners.

Much of what we do is about working with you to develop healthy, active communities for the longer-term and improve the health, wellbeing and care of our citizens at every stage of life.

Working together to tackle avoidable and unfair differences in health between people in our county is an important priority for us.

We will do this by focusing on key areas including:

  • Early years – supporting the best start in life
  • Adverse childhood experiences
  • Healthy lifestyles
  • Mental wellbeing
  • Physical activity
  • Social isolation and loneliness
  • Housing.

We are developing a 5-year ICS strategy for improving health and joining up care in Gloucestershire – now and into the future. Our interim strategy is available in the publications section of the One Gloucestershire Health Wellbeing Partnership pages (link below).
