Each winter healthcare services see an increase in vulnerable people seeking support because they are lonely.
The darker nights and adverse weather can make people worried about leaving their home, this can lead to mental health struggles and social isolation.
We also know that those who care for others may need extra support during the winter months, to stay well themselves and to make use of support networks for carers if needed.
We are encouraging members of our communities in Gloucestershire to keep a friendly eye on their older friends, family, and neighbours this winter. Small gestures can have a huge impact on people’s wellbeing. If you are able to, pop in and check on them, ask them if they are warm enough and have enough basic supplies.
